Hannah's Curious Cove map
In Dht and many other classes we have been learning about the Marlborough sounds. We had to write facts and different information about the sounds. The reason we had to learn about it is because we were going to Curious Cove, a camp which is in one of the sounds. If you look at the map you can see we started at Otaki and ended at Curious cove. There are also photos of camp and places in the Marlborough sounds we had to research.

2019 class
Next year I'm going to be a year 9. My goal for next year is to achieve more in my maths and my options. This means that in Maths I'll try to stay more focused and in my options to achieve things that are set and not complain. One of the things that I think I'm good at is writing, I enjoy writing because you can write about anything. I think I'm a active learner.

Curious Cove camp 2018
On the 12th to the 16th of November I went to a camp called Curious Cove. It was really fun there we saw dolphins, penguins and even a peacock! If I had another opportunity to go to Curious Cove I would. I hope that the next group that goes embraces this opportunity and has lots of fun there, I know I did.

Environmental issue
In Mali and Tiaria's environmental issues they explained chemicals that were released when plastic got into the water. They told us that when the chemicals were exposed to water the chemicals could release deadly toxins that would give us cancer and other harmful things. This really made me think about how bad and deadly our world is getting.

Daffodil day
Daffodil day
Today I am wearing yellow to support cancer patients and lives that have been lost to cancer. My family has been affected by cancer when my grandma was diagnosed with leukaemia. It was unexpected because my grandma had lived a very healthy life. Even though my grandma didn't die from cancer it was a very sad but short battle. I hope that when people wear yellow and their daffodils, they understand that cancer isn't just tough for the patient but also the family. Otaki College is supporting cancer by having a mufti day and getting people to wear yellow and donate a gold coin. All the money will be given to the Cancer Society, which is helping families and people that have been affected by cancer. Go to this website to get more information.

My environmental issue
24/08/18
My environmental issue
My topic for my environmental issue is deforestation and air pollution.
You may think that there are heaps of trees left in the world, I wouldn't think that after hearing this, if you count to 10 that's 10 trees gone, so 60 trees are gone every minute. Deforestation isn't something that you can fix right away, it's something we have to fix over time. Deforestation isn't just affecting us, it's affecting our environment, the animals and our oxygen. We need to act on this fast.
Here are some shocking facts you need to know about our environment. 50,000 animals die in the rain forest because of deforestation, we could be next if we don't act on it. It is estimated that within 100 years there will be no rain forests at all. Agriculture is the leading cause of deforestation. One and a half acres of forest is cut down every second. If these facts don't convince you enough to think of changing then what will, would you like more animals dying or perhaps more rain forests to be cut down. It's up for you to change.
What's my opinion on this topic you ask? Well if those paragraphs didn't convince you on how I feel, I'll make one just for you. I think it's unbelievable and heart breaking that we just let this slip out of our hands we need to make changes before things get worse. We need to realise that this isn't just affecting one species it's affecting all.
We can all start to change if we just do some of these steps. Plant a tree, If you plant a tree it can make a big chance especially if everybody in the world plants at least one. We can also start to recycle my family has started doing it, so can you. I hope this will change your mind and think about the affects of deforestation.

Sheina: I loved it , it was very interesting and there was most definitely no boring parts and I also really loved that it was straight to the point. Good Job.

Hannah's holidays
Term 2 holidays
On the first week of the holidays I went with a group of friends to cloud nine and laser tag. They were an hour late but it didn't really matter because we didn't book anything. The drive up was filled with loud music and laughing. When we finally arrived we went through a narrow car park but there wasn't any car parks so we turned around, however what I didn't know was that there was this huge bump that we had to drive over so when we did one side of the car was higher than the other side. We eventually found a car park not so far from cloud nine. We walked inside hoping we would be able to jump right in. When we were waiting in line we saw a couple of people from our school and people who used to go to our school. We found out that the place had been booked since 9 till 1 so we booked the 2 o'clock session and paid. We got some kfc while we were waiting.
An hour had passed and we walked back in. It was so fun! They had a beam with these fighting stick things and they also had an obstacle course. It was so much better than flip city. After an hour we all walked outside got a frozen coke from Mc Donalds and searched up our next destination. The drive there was so confusing because google maps just lead us in circles the whole time. It was so funny though. After a long and confusing drive we finally arrived. We all crowded into a small lobby and paid for laser tag. Luckily we didn't have to wait. We had to watch a very short safety video before we started saying how we couldn't run and how we had to stay 5 feet away from your other competitors. Nobody really listened though because we were all watching a grown woman trying to fit under some laser lines without getting hit. We finally got started we were separated into two teams one had four girls and the other had 2 girls and one little girl. I was in the team which had the little girl in it. We got to play with only each other but the teams were a little bit unfair. After two rounds passed we all got in the car and drove home. It was filled with pointing out which houses we wanted and some sleeping but overall it was a good day.

Reflection for 25/06/18
Today in Te Reo Maori we listened to some of our classmates pepeha's. After that we started to do some Matariki posters I've nearly completed mine however I didn't have enough time to finish so I'll have to do it another time,I've also learnt that their are nine starts in Matariki and not seven. In maths I went around to ask the teachers to send a forum to their students so that we could learn about how many people would like track pants or trousers. So far 46 kids have replied and we've discovered that 44 boys would like trousers/track pants and 2 boys don't. And that 40 girls/boys have said yes and six people said no. And during form time we had an assembly. We then started to do Cyber smart and then we did learning and vocabulary.
